    Stantec is seeking a Program Manager within the Buildings Design and Construction industry to lead large scale capital programs in Northern California. This opportunity can be based in Sacramento, CA; Walnut Creek, CA; or San Francisco, California.  This is an exciting opportunity for a forward, strategic thinking individual who can lead multiple project teams.

    We seek individuals with previous experience planning, designing, building, and/or managing the development of facilities. The development team must understand the Project’s mission as well as the expected deliverables and timeframes.  A comprehensive development work plan, which outlines all the required activities, approvals, and contingencies, is necessary to insure success.  We support the Owner to challenge assumptions and make timely decisions in the context of a complete development plan that forecasts the opportunities as well as the pit-falls.  Our Program and Project Managers build longstanding relationships with our clients, our project teams, and regulatory agencies, fostering a level of trust and respect unmatched in the industry.

    Your Duties

    In their role as Program & Project Manager, Stantec is seeking an individual to act as an Owner’s Representative, leading a team of professionals in the design and construction of large scale commercial projects in the Buildings sector.  The projects will be in various phases from conceptual planning stages through design, construction, and occupancy.

     

    In this role, you will:

    • Lead multiple large capital programs within our Buildings business in Northern California
    • Manage buildings programs valued over $200M
    • Oversee and manage existing team(s)
    • Focus on public works buildings and infrastructure projects
    • Drive delivery models and create efficient project outcomes
    • Develop and maintain client relationships
    • Excel in all phases of project management including: program development, budgeting, planning & design, pre-construction, project implementation, project oversight and project closure
    • Provide timely and accurate project documentation and reporting
    • Create Monthly Capital Program status reports
    • Draft project work orders, project purchase orders, service contracts and change orders
    • Verify appropriate vendor insurance
    • Develop, negotiate and verify contracts
    • Cultivate and maintain a positive working relationship with client representatives and service providers
    • Assist Management Committee and Region Manager in the establishment and refinement of best practices of standards of excellence
    • Report to Senior Vice President of Design and Construction for the Public Works Group
    • Provide leadership, insight, and management to drive clients “vision”
    • Assist in the Business Development efforts for California: Assist and help execute short term and long term Business Development strategies; Secure future project assignments with existing clients; Establish relationships with new clients to provide new business opportunities; Work to provide exposure to other markets

    Your Capabilities and Credentials

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • 10+ years of experience in Project Management and Owner’s Representative role in the design and construction field
    • Ability to run projects while also growing our California area project base
    • Local Northern California and Bay area expertise and network, and an aptitude for Business Development in the region
    • 4-year college degree, preferably in Engineering or Construction Management
    • Willing and able to travel
    • Excellent client relationship and communication skills
    • Team player with experience building, leading, and managing a team of Project Managers and Support Staff
    • Ability and experience in preparing comprehensive budget expenditures, overall project schedules, and in planning and managing revenue and expenses for a business unit

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 15-20 years of experience in Project Management and Owner’s Representative role
    • PE License or other relevant professional licensure or certification
    • Design-build and alternate project delivery experience preferred
    • Exceptional Program Management background with over $2B+ of work completed in buildings
    • Real Estate acumen that can provide guidance on real estate disposition
