Your Duties

The Bellevue, WA office of Stantec is seeking an Engineer with at least 15 years relevant experience to join our multi-disciplinary team of Industrial Wastewater Treatment professionals, each committed to delivering sound and strategic consulting services to a range of local, regional, state and federal clients. The selected professional will play a role in Stantec’s global leadership position in water-related infrastructure and serve as the technical lead on some of the most challenging projects we face today. The individual will apply their skills in the planning, design, and management of environmental and industrial projects focused on industrial wastewater treatment facilities, pipelines, pump stations and related infrastructure for mining, oil/gas, commercial/manufacturing, and aerospace market sectors. Responsibilities of this position include the following:


  • Provide overall technical leadership on medium to large sized projects (>$2M USD) and organizing multi-disciplinary design teams.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary design teams on Industrial Wastewater Treatment projects throughout the Pacific Northwest and the western United States.
  • Attend client site visits, gather information, develop and evaluate technical alternatives, and prepare engineering reports.
  • Face-to-face interactions with the client’s engineering team
  • Perform, review and provide quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of engineering calculations, detailed design drawings and technical specifications.
  • Mentor junior staff on engineering design, calculations, and development of technical specifications.
  • Organize and oversee the execution of bench and pilot testing programs.
  • Serve as technical lead, interface with clients, engage local and remote Stantec staff, and interact with permitting agencies and partnering consulting firms in the execution of engineering projects.
  • Support project management activities associated with the planning and execution of industrial engineering projects.
  • Support local efforts and teams identifying, pursuing and winning new projects and work.

Perform other technical or business-related duties as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, chemical, environmental, mechanical or water resources engineering is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • +15 years of engineering experience is required.
  • Professional engineering (PE) license is required.
  • Engineering experience should include any of the following:
    • Chemical reactions and water chemistry
    • Industrial wastewater treatment design experience
    • Experience with complex water chemistry
    • Complex water and chemical mass balances
    • Engineering alternatives analysis and value engineering
    • Detailed pumping and piping hydraulic calculations
    • Water/wastewater treatment process selection and design including advanced and emerging technologies
    • Preparation of detailed basis of design reports, process flow diagrams, P&ID and other discipline-specific drawings
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities for working in diverse team environments with staff, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Basic AutoCAD skills desired but not required.
