We are seeking a Project Manager for our Cincinnati, OH office, to provide environmental permitting, project management, business development, and other client services for natural resource projects, with a focus in the Power and Natural Gas Sectors.

Your Duties

Project management responsibilities include developing project proposals, managing projects and budgets, and performing and overseeing technical work.  Environmental permitting responsibilities include identifying project-specific environmental permitting requirements, coordinating with resource agency personnel, writing and reviewing technical reports and environmental permit applications, presenting at public meetings, and facilitating successful environmental permitting of multiple and varied projects. 


Specific management and permitting responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing documents related to environmental services in accordance with the Ohio Power Siting Board and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
  • Executing environmental permitting, environmental field surveys, and construction compliance for a variety of power-related, and natural gas related projects, including, but not limited to, high voltage transmission lines, natural gas transmission and distribution lines and wells, wind and solar energy facilities, and thermal generation plants. 
  • The primary focus will be on executing permitting for projects in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, but it is expected that the individual will get involved in projects in other states in the Midwest and Northeast.
  • Managing wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species habitat characterizations, and species-specific surveys, land use mapping and vegetation cover classification, cultural resource surveys, GPS data collection, and permitting and report preparations for the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), and state and county agencies.
  • Preparing biological assessments for Section 7 Endangered Species Act consultation requirements.

This is a Project Management  level position that may be recognized as a local authority in management of Power and Natural Gas industry projects, and operates under direct and sustained supervision.  Demonstrates solid expertise and solves problems of significant complexity providing original, innovative, practical, and economical solutions. Work involves planning, directing, and coordinating assignments/projects, modifying established guidelines, and initiating new approaches.  Demonstrates mature technical knowledge in a variety of scientific, engineering, and architectural methods, techniques, and best management practices.


Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in the natural sciences, environmental policy, or a related field
  • 5 or more years of progressively responsible experience related to natural resource management, consulting, and/or environmental planning
  • A “hands on” individual experienced in managing permitting applications and projects from start to finish
  • Project and budget management experience
  • Experience with local, state, and federal environmental permitting. Excellent verbal communication skills and advanced technical writing abilities.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Strong work ethic, sense of humor, high ethical standards, and a desire for team success.


  • Background in the fields of wetland science, botany, and/or wildlife biology.
  • Experience conducting wetland delineations and construction observation
  • Ability to meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain and establish effective working relationships.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to perform work accurately in a detail oriented environment
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports, procedures, correspondences, and other written materials.
