Stantec is seeking a Project Director / Project Executive within the Buildings Design and Construction industries to lead our Charleston, SC team.  This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a forward, strategic thinking individual who can grow the Charleston practice.

We seek individuals with previous experience planning, designing, building, and/or managing the development of facilities. Our approach to project management is proactive and entrepreneurial.  We believe that there is no substitute for strong leadership, coupled with clear and concise communications. The development team must understand the Project’s mission as well as the expected deliverables and timeframes.  A comprehensive development work plan, which outlines all the required activities, approvals, and contingencies, is necessary to insure success.  We support the Owner to challenge assumptions and make timely decisions in the context of a complete development plan that forecasts the opportunities as well as the pit-falls.  Our Program and Project Managers build longstanding relationships with our clients, our project teams, and regulatory agencies, fostering a level of trust and respect unmatched in the industry.

Your Duties

You will act as an Owner’s Representative & Project Executive, leading a team of professionals in the design and construction of large scale commercial projects including healthcare, corporate headquarters, high-rise office, high-rise residential, hospitality, and other expansion and renovation projects in the Charleston, SC region. The projects will be in various phases from conceptual planning stages through design, construction, and occupancy.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead the growth and development of the Charleston team, as part of the PBS - Southeast Region
  • Develop and maintain client relationships
  • Lead the Business Development efforts for the Charleston, SC region: development of short term and long term Business Development strategies
  • securing future project assignments with existing clients
  • establishing relationships with new clients
  • working to provide exposure to other markets
  • Plan and manage the revenue and expenses for the Charleston P&PM team
  • Manage multiple projects as an Owner’s Representative
  • Report to Regional Director - Southeast

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in Project Management and Owner's Representative role in the design and construction field
  • Ability to run projects while also growing our Charleston area project base
  • Local Charleston area expertise and network, and an aptitude for Business Development in the Charleston, SC region
  • 4-year college degree, preferably in Engineering or Construction Management
  • Excellent client relationship and communication skills
  • Team player with experience building, leading, and managing a team of Project Managers and Support Staff
  • Ability and experience in preparing comprehensive budget expenditures
  • Ability and experience in preparing overall project schedules
  • Ability and experience in planning and managing revenue and expenses for a business unit


 Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15-20 years of experience in Project Management and Owner's Representative role in the design and construction field, in the Charleston area
