The Mechanical Designer will assist the lead Mechanical Engineer with the mechanical design and drafting for the Buildings Engineering group.  The position will be located in Stantec's Houston office.

Your Duties

Tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Design portions of building systems with supervision
  • Accurately read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Prepare detailed engineering design calculations and drawings under supervision
  • Prepare and calculate engineering loads, perform simple engineering analysis and simple system design under supervision
  • Set up project sheets and prepare drawing lists
  • Review drawings and documents for presentation and accuracy prior to submittal

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Must have Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field of study
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience designing mechanical systems for Commercial, Educational, Institutional or similar applications and be experienced in creating complete drawings for these types of projects
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel is required
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Building Information Systems (AutoCAD & Revit) is highly desired
  • LEED Accredited Professional status is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills are required, both verbal and written
