    Stantec is hiring a Project Lead Electrical Engineer to join their team in Philadelphia, PA.  

    Your Duties

    • The role of a Project Lead Electrical Engineer is working independently with a team of design colleagues to conceptualize and develop full documentation for new construction and renovation projects for multiple types of facilities such as; healthcare, commercial offices, higher education, research laboratory or similar applications.
    • The role also includes being the lead client contact to establish design criteria, review design progress as well as serving as the lead for project through construction administration.
    • The Electrical Engineer should be able to evaluate, optimize, size, select, specify, and engineer all electrical power equipment and distribution systems serving a new construction or renovation project.

    Additional responsibilities to include:

    • Serving as the Engineer-of-Record and internal technical design expert on assigned projects
    • The Electrical Engineer is expected to lead the electrical design team for specific projects managing to a known deadline with a staff of other design colleagues.
    • The Electrical Engineer is expected to lead the design concept analysis and optimization and lead coordination with teams of inhouse architects and other engineering disciplines.
    • Will be responsible to adhere to in house project procedures and quality control practices.
    • Development of project job specific discipline specifications independently from a company master specification.
    • Supports project requirements including Basisof Design (BOD) narratives, design level cost estimates, researches, prepares, and presents coordinated design options. Collaborates with project managers and supporting design staff
    • Actively participates in the development of design staff through work on projects and serves as a trainer, mentor and resource for junior staff
    • Performs site visits for field surveys, construction observation, and punch lists
    • Reviews drawings and researches code requirements to comply with city, state, and county regulations
    • Interacts with key clients and project stakeholders
    • Collaborates with the practice and market leaders to obtain and disseminate technical knowledge
    • When required, acting  as department QC reviewer on projects, participating in project peer reviews and providing the engineer of record function for the department on local projects.
    • Maintains current knowledge of technologies and trends, as they apply to the applicable project and market types, and continually strengthens skills
    • Assist with development of design standards and details as required by senior staff.
    • Where assigned as a task manager on a project, help develop project design workplans and monitor the hours spent by the MEP engineering team.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Group Leaders and/or Engineering Discipline Leader such as supporting new project proposals by developing project scope, design budgets, and design approach for potential projects. 

    Your Capabilities and Credentials

    • Bachelors' degree in related field plus 10–15 years of related professional experience in architectural engineering field
    • PE license required (Pennsylvania minimally; other states are a plus)
    • Ability to independently prepare and review detailed contract deliverables such as reports, system analysis, schematic design, design development and contract drawings.
    • Demonstrated REVIT production skills.  Although this is not the primary function of the position; it will be required from time to time to support project production.
    • Strong knowledge of discipline-specific systems for the built environment primarily power (medium voltage service and building service voltages) but also a working knowledge or other low voltage systems such as fire detection and alarm, lighting and security systems.
    • Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards (NEC, NFPA 72 and 101, and the International Building Code)
    • Experience with Sustainable Design and Alternative Energy; LEED AP and or BD+C certification is a plus
    • Ability to demonstrate a credible and trustworthy presence through professionalism, demeanor, and technical knowledge
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Functional knowledge of current lighting calculation software (AGI32, Visual)
    • Strong knowledge of power study software (SKM, ETAP, Paladin DesignBase)
    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
    • Professional experience in designing healthcare and higher education and science research environments is preferred
    • Familiarity with various construction delivery processes
