We are growing and are actively seeking entry level candidates to support our Dam and Hydro Team in the southeastern United States. Stantec’s Dam and Hydro Practice pursues and executes flood control, water supply, hydropower, mining and navigation projects of varying size and complexity across North America. This is an entry level position that will support the execution, implementation and construction of complex dam and hydro infrastructure projects. Projects may include dam, hydro and gate modifications, rehabilitation or mitigation projects. The project role will consist of supporting the project team in daily observations, reporting, stakeholder coordination, plans and specifications review, issues resolution, planning and engineering aspects. The successful candidate will be someone with strong communication skills, work ethic, positive attitude and a critical thought process.

Stantec’s Water practice has an immediate opportunity for an entry level Mechanical Engineer in Training. Position locations are near Charlotte, NC and Salem, SC.


Your Duties


  • Provide oversight and quality assurance support in during the execution of hydro related projects
  • On-site coordination, communication and observation of construction and commissioning activities
  • Daily reporting, quantity and cost tracking, and progress assessments
  • Interact with multidiscipline team members
  • Project travel as needed
  • Attend project meetings


Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
  • EIT required
  • 0 to 4 years of experience
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Skill in reading, interpreting and communicating contract documents, plans and specifications
  • Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to hydro infrastructure
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
