Stantec’s New England Transportation group has an immediate need for a talented, team focused Civil Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of experience in specialty areas including roadway/highway design, transportation planning/traffic engineering, stormwater and utility design, and construction observation.  This position is  flexible in location between our South Burlington, VT, Scarborough, ME, and Bedford, NH office.

This position is for an individual with 5+ years design experience looking to challenge themselves on a professional level on a variety of transportation projects ranging from local roads and complete streets to major interstates to shared use paths and trails.  You will have the opportunity to learn, work on exciting and multi-faceted projects, and grow your career.  We are looking for Civil Engineers who excel in working in a team environment and have a passion for the work that they do.

Your Duties

The successful candidate will join a growing team of transportation professionals and play a lead role in the highway design component of roadway and bridge projects throughout New England.  You will:

  • Design roadways in accordance with AASHTO and DOT specifications and CADD Standards using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Develop design plans and calculations, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates.
  • Prepare engineering reports and technical studies such as design memos, feasibility studies, concept design reports, Design Exception Reports, and Functional Design Reports.
  • Perform field work and construction phase services support.
  • Interact with and present project designs to clients, agencies, and the public.
  • Work alongside experienced practitioners to expand your knowledge
  • Help guide and mentor junior staff.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering.
  • EIT minimum, PE preferred.
  • 5+ years design experience.
  • Working knowledge of AASHTO and DOT design standards.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • In anticipated regional work, experience working with MassDOT a plus
  • Depending on background, experience using design and analytical software such as:
    • StormCAD, HydroCAD, PCSWMM, FHHY-8, HEC-22 AutoCAD Civil 3D Storm Sanitary Analysis
    • Synchro, HCS, AutoTURN for AutoCAD
    • ArcMap, ArcGIS Online
    • Autodesk Subassembly Composer for AutoCAD Civil 3D
