Your Opportunity

Our Mining Team is looking to add a junior level Civil Engineer to support the Tempe, AZ; Salt Lake City, UT and Denver, CO office locations. The primary responsibilities for this role will include:


• Under the direction of a Project Manager or Lead Engineer, evaluate and apply engineering procedures, criteria, and techniques in problem analysis, data collection, design, and construction management for a variety of applications, including mining and mine planning, reclamation design, embankment, tailing impoundment, and lined facility design and construction, and other projects
• Organizing, drafting, coordinating and preparing mine plans, reclamation plans, and production/construction schedules of assigned sections of various plans and reports to ensure technical consistency and inclusion of appropriate documentation interpretation of field data for incorporation in site designs and recommendations
• Site design work, including excavation design, drainage and sediment control, tailings impoundments, mine plans, reclamation plans, grading plans, and mine closure plans
• Interpretation of field data for incorporation in site designs and recommendations
• Supporting a variety of projects and assuming multiple task responsibilities
• Interacting within the business unit and local operations, with clients, professional organizations, and with vendors
• Assisting in the development of new business, including proposal and presentation preparation and project budgeting
• Possibly performing task leader/project manager duties on small projects, including, but not limited to, developing preliminary budgets, determining the scope of work, establishing schedules, processing appropriate paperwork, managing staff resources, reviewing invoices and maintaining client relationships

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Bachelor of Science degree in BS in mining, civil, or geotechnical engineering, a Master's degree would be a plus
• 2 to 5 years of progressive experience with heavy civil within the mining industry
• Must have good interpersonal, communication, organizational, writing and presentation skills
• Solid report writing skills
• Excellent organization skills
• Willing and able to travel as required
• Ability to coordinate work with other disciplines and must be capable of working on multiple projects and teams
• Ability to communicate needs with project manager and fellow team members
• Must be able to maintain a high level of productivity, work overtime with little advanced notice and demonstrate a degree of flexibility to help meet project milestones and deadlines
• Experience with Autodesk and/or Carlson software packages is preferred
• Field investigation experience is preferred
