Our West Palm Beach office has a great opportunity for a Geomatics Survey Technician to join our growing team within our Transportation Group.

 

The majority of projects we work on are large roadway projects performing Design Surveys and R/W Mapping for FDOT and the FL Turnpike as well as other discipline surveys for work in the private sector.

Your Duties

This position will work directly with a Licensed Professional Surveyor and Mapper on projects across the State of Florida and in support of all Stantec Geomatics offices.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead, organize and mentor junior staff to work through assignments in an efficient manner.
  • Process GPS RTK / Static and or total stations survey data.
  • Prepare Topographic / Design Surveys of transportation corridors.
  • Prepare Right of Way Maps for transportation corridors.
  • Compute construction stakeout and volume calculations.
  • Import survey data into AutoCAD Civil3D and/or Microstation SS4, and produce ground models and contours.
  • Produce Boundary / Topographic Surveys using AutoCAD Civil3D.
  • Create alignments and build profiles and Cross Section Sheets.
  • Cadastral calculations and compilation. Utility compilation.
  • Related surveying services in support of engineering work.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • High School Diploma, or G.E.D.; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Survey experience preferred.
  • 3 years’ experience in FDOT Transportation corridor surveys, familiar with FDOT and FTA deliverables and workflow. College graduate with less experience will be considered.  
  • Highly skilled in GPS and data processing.
  • Highly skilled in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bentley Software suite (Microstation, GeoPak and SS4)
  • Ability to gather and organize survey research and records.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, maps, and documents.
  • Travel when needed
