Stantec is currently seeking a full time licensed Project Architect/BIM Coordinator based out of our Chicago, IL office. A licensed Architect (preferred), serves as Project Architect responsible for providing the health sector team with REVIT® leadership on a wide range of projects. The position entails the production of construction documents for health sector projects. Solid sustainable design practices are inherent in every project designed by Stantec and we use BIM/REVIT® to leverage those practices for the benefit of our clients. This candidate will function within the health sector team and will be providing excellence in production leadership, technical support, documentation, training and development. The role requires representation and collaboration within Stantec-wide resource team in leading BIM transformation. Successful candidate will embrace advocacy of technology adoption and balance real-time BIM/Revit work process improvement to benefit project teams and client organizations toward innovative solutions.

Your Duties

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Interpret sketches, drawings, codes, building program and other similar material
  • Utilize BIM technologies in development of three dimensional models of buildings and their components
  • (see additional below)
  • Prepare and revise documentation in various architectural phases including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, building sections, details
  • Interpret and apply building codes, energy codes, and requirements of regulatory agencies
  • Assist in the coordination of permit requirements for city building permit sets
  • Coordinate building systems (structural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) and associated documentation including clash detection within the BIM model
  • Coordinate civil engineering work as it relates to the building design
  • Conduct field observation and report progress of construction
  • Review shop drawings and submittals, respond to RFIs, prepare site observation reports, and other contract administration tasks
  • Evaluate building design using sustainable design principles
  • Lead project coordination and site meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor and sub-contractors
  • Participate in client project requirement meetings
  • Participate in value analysis and basic cost estimating
  • Assist in the preparation of specifications in coordination with building plans and the specifications writer
  • Recommendation and selection of building systems and materials
  • Participate in constructability review
  • Participate in bidding and negotiation phase and prepare addenda
  • Coordinate and direct external consultants including evaluation of quality and progress of work
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects
  • Assist in preparation of project budget, schedule and overall work planning
  • Ensures that work conforms to project budget, schedule, and overall work planning

BIM Leadership and Support Tasks within Health Sector:

  • Create initial REVIT® Project setup with workflow documents
  • Initiate Model for each project and prepare for production team
  • Provide BIM/REVIT® project kick-off information
  • Work as part of a BIM/CAD support team to achieve consistent results
  • Daily model management administration and maintenance
  • Provide REVIT® Architecture desktop support
  • Over-the-shoulder training, developing and shadowing to health sector team
  • Content creation: Families such as parametric, formula, nested and type catalogs
  • Support linked views and others in multiple models situation
  • Integration of REVIT® products as appropriate
  • Eager to support health sector team members with positive attitude, passion and patience
  • Ability to uphold the use of standards and escalate issues in a timely fashion

BIM Leadership and Support Tasks within Stantec-wide Resource Team:

  • Collaborate to advance standards, processes & procedures
  • Collaborate to advance integration of BIM and Information Technology
  • Contribute to R&D innovations for leading edge technology adoption
  • Present BIM Capabilities to Clients as appropriate
  • Create internal on-site consultant approach to serve project teams
  • Propose pilot initiatives and manage: technical & financially as appropriate
  • Ensure project BIM execution plans adherence and success
  • Contribute to development of BIM content marketing material

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • 5 to 12 years of experience with licensure
  • Healthcare expertise preferred:
    • Conversant with department of health processes and related issues
    • Conversant in codes and regulatory issues related to healthcare specific design with significant experience in across the various levels of healthcare environments
    • Conversant in healthcare terminology as it relates to services, departments and building types in the healthcare setting
  • Performs healthcare specific QA/QC reviews as appropriate
