Your Duties

As the successful candidate, your responsibilities will include:

  • Serving as a Construction Manager/Resident Engineer overseeing the activities of staff including: Assistant Construction Managers, Office Engineers, Assistant Office Engineers, Lead Inspectors, Construction Inspectors, Materials Testing personnel, Survey personnel, and Administrative/Project personnel. Monitor contractors’ work for compliance to construction plans and technical specifications, as well as adherence to schedule, budget, and legal requirements.
  • Conduct field evaluations and assessments as required. Resolve design and field construction problems.
  • Conduct regular (weekly, bi-weekly, etc.) construction meetings with contractor and owner.
  • Expedite design and field changes.
  • Provide oversight to staff and insure documentation of construction payments in accordance with client/owner requirements.
  • Ensure accuracy of contractor progress payments.
  • Evaluate construction schedule and updates in accordance with client/owner requirements.
  • Review contractor requests for change and, when appropriate, assist in the preparation of contract change orders/modifications.
  • Assist the client’s contracting officer in the negotiation contract changes.
  • Communicate and implement safety rules, policies, and procedures in support of the client’s safety vision and goals to contractors and subordinate personnel.
  • In addition to support the client, would support other Stantec efforts as needed.
  • Perform final inspections and prepare record drawings.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • State of Nevada Professional Engineering registration
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Resident Engineer.
  • Experience directing an inspection staff of 5 or more.
  • Valid Nevada Class C driver’s license.
  • Certified Construction Manager highly desirable.
  • Experience providing construction inspection of large, complex highway and/or bridge projects is an asset.
  • Experience providing construction inspection for NDOT an asset.
  • Experience communicating with the public, enforcing environmental permit requirements and set up of Work Zone Traffic Control measures are assets.
  • Solid communication skills and work ethic.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills. Be able to work independently and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

Preference will be given to applicants that have, or can obtain, the following:

  • OSHA 30 training
  • MSHA Training
  • Certification as a Water Pollution Control Manager
  • ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor Certification
  • Additional preference will be given to candidates who possess NDOT and/or RTC construction project experience.
