Stantec is seeking an Environmental Scientist for our Lake Mary office. Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in biological/environmental sciences. Candidate will work with senior staff to conduct field surveys for the preparation of biological documents and supporting materials for permit applications. Scuba certification and the ability to identify marine species is beneficial. Excellent communication and technical writing skills are required. Knowledge of local, state, and federal permitting regulations, NEPA, and FDOT procedures is desirable.  The candidate must have knowledge of Florida flora and fauna and be familiar with state and federal listed species programs.  Field work in undeveloped areas of the Southeast in all weather conditions with associated wildlife and terrain is required, including overnight travel.  Software skills in Microsoft Office, AutoCad, and ArcMap are desirable.

  • Wetland delineations
  • Wildlife surveys
  • Report writing
  • PD&E studies
  • Mitigation site monitoring
  • Gopher Tortoise relocations
  • Data collection
  • Data entry
  • Environmental Assessments
  • Permitting

Your Capabilities and Credentials

The ideal candidate must have these absolute and basic qualifications/requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biological or Environmental sciences
  • Minimum of one (1) year professional experience or a
  • Master of Science (M.S.) in Biological or Environmental Sciences field can be in place of one (1) year professional experience requirement
  • Knowledge of Florida flora and fauna
  • Familiarity with state and federal listed species programs
  • Ability to perform field work in undeveloped areas in all weather conditions with associated wildlife and terrain
  • Ability to have overnight travel
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills

Preferred skills that will assist the candidate in succeeding in the role are:
