Your Duties

 

Our Environmental Services discipline group is dedicated to managing environmental issues professionally and proactively. We provide integrated, multidisciplinary services to identify and assess liabilities and risks, and to develop solutions to promote effective environmental solutions. Our staff of professionals includes specialists in marine biology, wetland science, wildlife biology, soil science, fisheries biology, botany, hydrogeology, hydrology, water resources management, forestry, habitat and ecosystem restoration, permitting, GIS, information management, environmental monitoring, in-situ/ex-situ remedial design and implementation, human health and ecological risk assessments, air quality permitting and reporting, pipeline compliance, stormwater permitting and planning, and audit support services. We are seeking exceptionally talented and enthusiastic individuals with a keen interest in the marine environment to join our team and advance their career.

 

Our Environmental Services practice seeks a Project Manager/ Project Environmental Scientist to prepare environmental permitting and reporting, conduct and/or lead field work, and manage existing and/or new projects. Environmental regulatory and permitting responsibilities include identifying project-specific environmental regulatory requirements, coordinating with resource agency personnel, writing and reviewing technical reports, developing environmental permit applications, presenting at public meetings, and facilitating successful environmental permitting of multiple and varied projects.  Field work responsibilities may include GPS surveys, wetland assessments, and natural community mapping; performing and leading project technical work; preparing reports and proposals; and preparing environmental permitting to conduct and/or lead field work. Project management responsibilities include developing proposals; managing projects and budgets; coordinating with clients, stakeholders, and internal project staff; and performing and overseeing project technical work.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Minimum of Bachelors or Masters of Science (preferred) in biology, botany, ecology, wildlife biology or a related discipline;
  • Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience related to natural resource management, consulting, and/or environmental planning;
  • Demonstrated experience in project development and task management;
  • Desire for business development, multi-disciplinary internal collaboration, and proposal development;
  • Extensive experience preparing environmental assessments/ impact statements;
  • Demonstrated experience with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and permitting in New England, including experience with the Massachusetts DEP wetlands and waterways permits, Maine DEP NRPA permits, and/or Connecticut DEEP permits, Sections 401 and 404 of the Clean Water Act, MEPA and/or CEPA, NPDES, and state- and federally listed species regulations and permitting;
  • Extremely strong social and communication skills and ability to interact across a broad range of audiences/ technical backgrounds;
  • Experience with field work in various field conditions (i.e. boats, winter etc.);
  • Willingness to travel for project work and business development opportunities; and
  • A strong work ethic, sense of humor, high ethical standards, a desire for team success and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
