Stantec’s Water practice based in Nashville, TN has an immediate opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer In Training with water and wastewater experience.

Your Duties


  • Prepare preliminary schematics and layouts for input to drafting
  • Assist as requires in the preparation of final plans and specifications for Tender or client submissions
  • Work closely with senior mechanical engineers to design miscellaneous systems related to thermal power plants and industrial processes
  • Interact with multidiscipline team members
  • Attend client meetings

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
  • EIT required
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in design and engineering of mechanical process systems. 
  • Can demonstrate teamwork while working with engineers and designers in other disciplines
  • Skill in reading, interpreting and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups.
  • Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to the disciplines design responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria and codes relevant to the discipline.




  • Preferred 2-3 years of experience in industrial wastewater mechanical design physical unit operations include:
    • Field Erected Tanks
    • Clarifiers
    • Pumping Systems
    • Mixers & Agitators
    • Shop Fabricated Tanks
    • Piping systems
    • Stress Analysis
  • Preferred 1-2 years of experience in industrial plant design in one or more one of the following industries.
    • Power Generation (Fossil Fuel)
    • Chemical Production
    • Refinery
