We are currently seeking a Mechanical Piping Engineer to join the team in our Anchorage, Alaska officeThe successful candidate will be accountable for project performance, scope, schedule, budget, and technical deliverables.


Your Duties

  • Perform preliminary and detailed engineering for pipeline facilities, pump stations, tank farms, and pipeline tie-ins using ASME B31.3 and B31.4 codes
  • Ensure work produced is of high quality and in compliance with Stantec’s quality system
  • Work within specified budgets and schedules and meeting corporate and project quality requirements
  • Piping design and materials selection for typical oil and gas projects and pipeline pump station facilities
  • Piping hydraulics and line sizing
  • Support and execution of piping stress analysis
  • Familiarity with the following codes: ASME B31.3, ASME B31.4 and B31.8
  • Prepare equipment specifications and data sheets for oil and gas facilities and technical evaluation of vendor proposals, including review of vendor drawings
  • Preparation of piping construction specifications
  • Preparation of technical specifications, which may include piping line class definitions, or specification deviations
  • Direct the preparations of and check mechanical drawings including P&IDs, piping plans, sections and isometrics
  • Support cost estimating including engineering man-hours
  • Mentoring junior engineers, administration and supervision of mechanical engineers
  • Maintain professional training requirements
  • Preparation of safe work plans for field visits, compliance with Stantec’s health and safety system
  • Available for travel

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) designation
  • Minimum 10 years of engineering experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with an EPC company, with preliminary and detailed engineering for oil & gas, and pipeline facilities
  • Work in the midstream oil and gas industry
  • At least 1 year of field experience is preferred
  • Success working within specified budgets and schedules and meeting corporate and project quality requirements
  • Detailed knowledge of piping and mechanical design and materials for typical oil & gas projects, with specific experience with pipeline pump station facilities
  • Experience with piping hydraulics and line sizing
  • Working knowledge and aptitude with application of ASME and API codes
  • Proficient with pipe stress analysis, specifically with AutoPIPE
  • Experience with seismic design of piping and mechanical systems
  • General knowledge of transient hydraulic analysis. Able to review and apply results to piping and mechanical systems
  • Proficient with Naviswork
  • Extensive experience with the ASME B31.3, B31.4, and B31.8 piping design codes
  • Experience with the preparation of equipment specifications and data sheets for oil & gas facilities
  • Report writing skills
  • Working knowledge of piping and mechanical construction specifications
  • Experience with the preparation and checking of mechanical drawings including P&IDs, piping plans and sections and isometrics 
  • Success on past projects leading and working with a project drafting team
  • Exposure to cost estimating including capital and operating costs and engineering man-hours
